John Dickie's Custom Iron Work John has been welding for over 30 years. He has worked on pipelines, hooked up gas wells, built rig-up trucks and roustabout trucks, and worked on drilling rigs. One day (about 15 years ago) he just got tired of welding and decided he would do something else. So he started "John Dickie Custom Iron Work". At first it was slow and he did 'little people', or that's what he called it: wind chimes, bells, cats, dogs, horses and anything people wanted. Then, at the Fair in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Barbara Carlsberg & her husband asked him to do the lights and fixtures in the Brooks Lake Lodge for them, as they were rebuilding the old lodge. He then made ironwork pieces for the Gun Barrel Restaurant, Jackson Hole Realty and many homes in Jackson, Wyoming. He also has pieces of his artwork in Finland and Africa and all over the United States. John will build whatever you would like, for he says, "If you haven't thought of it yet, I will build it". His motto is "If I can't build it, you don't need it". |

All John's work is done free hand, from the intricate details of his wildlife and western scenes to the realistic look of leather pieces made out of iron. John builds a variety of items including fireplace screens, light fixtures, lamps, furniture, gates and much more. His versatility and imagination are unlimited! John specializes in custom work, so if you have a design in mind, he can make it for you. |

The Sublette County Museum Board in Wyoming commissioned John to create metal silhouettes for the top of historical marker signs located on pull-outs on major highways throughout the county. Each of John's metal silhouettes is artfully crafted and uniquely depicts the historical events referred to in the signs, from early western explorers, fur trappers, immigrants along the Oregon Trail and Native Americans. |
| The iron work on these gates and entryway were done by John. A lot of his work reflects the western flavor, but he can create many different designs to compliment the decor of your home or business. |
| John's latest creative endeavor is making iron work that looks like leather. It's very easy to be fooled. When these gunbelts or bridles are hanging on the wall, they look like the real thing. The close up pictures below show the fine detail of these creations with the folds and twists of the leather pieces. |
